Initiatives & Special Projects

Over the years I've enjoyed the trust of my employers to organize special events and projects for our students. This page shows you samples of some of those initiatives.

Camp 21

21st Century Cyber Charter School

For this project, I created and implemented an outdoor educational summer camp for students in 3 different locations across Pennsylvania.

As camp coordinator I...

  • Facilitated the creation of outdoor curriculum for ELA, Math, Science, Social Studies, etc.

  • Took the lead on advertising the camp to students and parents

  • Booked all locations and gathered all necessary equipment

  • Maintained the camp budget

  • Attended and led all 3 camps in person

Short Story Competition

Internationella Engelska Skolan

At the request of Heads of Departments (HoDs) from around the country within IES, I organized an annual short story contest for IES students.

Students submitted stories around different themes which were judged by teacher volunteers who awarded a first, second and third prize in each category.

As organizer I...

  • Developed the prompt/theme based on HoD input

  • Developed an efficient and accurate judging system

  • Secured funding for, ordered and shipped prizes

Reading Olympics: Sweden

Internationella Engelska skolan

I started a reading comprehension competition for year 6 students based on my own positive experiences in the Reading Olympics program in the Central Bucks school district. Teachers came up with a list of 10 level-appropriate books for students to read and prepared comprehension questions based on those books.

The competition gave students an opportunity to challenge themselves in terms of their reading, and their ability to work as a team to answer questions. It also gave students a chance to meet students from other parts of the country!

Teachers within the company run this competition annually to this day!
